Every night after dinner a signal in my brain goes off that automatically starts contemplating what will be for dessert. I swear, I can’t remember the last time I DIDN’T end my night with something sweet. I realized tonight that I have a bit of a chocolate obsession. Well “a bit” is an understatement. I finished both my mint chocolate chip and mint chocolate cookie (that’s right I have two varieties of mint ice cream in my freezer, don’t hate) last night, so my options were limited…or so I thought. I realized that I have multiple stashes of chocolate candy in my apartment. My room stash: Godiva Dark Chocolate Covered Almonds, Kopali Dark Chocolate Covered Bananas (I like making a chocolate trail mix with the two of these and dried fruit!) and a Bloomsberry & Co “Chocolate Addiction” bar (perfect for me!). My freezer stash: York Peppermint Patties, Peanut M&M fun packs, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups and Kit Kat’s. And last but not least, My pantry collection: Green and Black’s Mint and 85% Dark Chocolate, Kopali Dark Chocolate Cacao Nibs, Newman’s Own Peanut Butter Cups, Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bar, Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Chunk Brownie Mix, Viactive Mint Chocolate Vitamins (okay that might not count), MaraNtha Dark Chocolate Almond Spread and Dark Hot Chocolate K-cups. Yea, I’m stocked…bottom line, I would hate to be dessert-less for a night. Decisions, decisions… I am terrible at making decisions. I wasn’t particularly hungry but needed something sweet, so frozen candy or not frozen candy? Something with nuts or something plain? My life is challenging. I finally decided that I would make a caffeine-free Celestial Season’s Raspberry Zinger, and a piece of rich dark chocolate would be the perfect complement. I dug into my Green and Black’s:
Mint won me over tonight. Between my candy stash and my ice cream collection, I think it is pretty clear that mint and chocolate is one of my favorite flavor pairs. There is something so crisp, refreshing and indulgent in ending your meal with mint chocolate. I like having chocolate bars with a cup of tea because it melts in the best velvety way in your mouth as you cleanse your palate with the fruity tea. YUM! Give me a pair of sweat pants and a good movie…I’ll call it a night! I only buy Green and Black’s every once and a while because of it’s price, but the product is well worth it! They are Fair Trade Certified and 100% organic. The flavor is phenomenal, “velvet” is the only word I can think of at the moment to describe the mouth feel. In sum, it’s my current chocolate obsession.
Grateful I Didn’t Give Up Chocolate For Lent,
What is your favorite after dinner treat? What is your favorite type of chocolate or candy?
