Hello, my name is Nora and I have a problem: I love making wraps, but I have the unfortunate habit of making them so large that I can’t physically close them. I encountered this issue today when I made my Over Stuffed Turkey and Swiss Wrap. I started with a base of a whole wheat and flax tortilla, smothered with ~1.5 TBS Cedar’s Original Hummus, spicy brown mustard, a generous mound of spinach, zesty sprouts, 3 slices of turkey breast, a slice of Swiss cheese, sliced red pepper, cucumber, tomato and a baby Bella mushroom….whew! Sometimes I just cant control myself!
I don’t have an after picture because as soon as I got the edges to touch I quickly wrapped it in aluminum foil and put it in my lunch box. By lunch time, it semi-fused together so it was ALMOST a wrap! I still had a few bits and pieces fly out, but no worries…I brought a fork just in case!
I love adding lots of fresh veggies to sandwiches; they generate more of a “complete meal feel”, and it is a great way to add different flavor and textural elements to your dish! I am a fanatic of hummus topped with cheese (and spicy mustard/hot sauce, BRING ON THE HEAT!). I often make grilled sandwiches with hummus, cheese and roasted vegetables. The creaminess and flavors are out of this world!
I hate having “plain Jane” sandwiches. The only “boring” sandwiches exception I’ll make is for PB&J (my love/addiction). Nut butter+ Jam= nirvana. Give me a plain turkey and cheese on bread…NO THANK YOU…I need more! I’ve recently been expanding my sandwich repertoire, so maybe one of these days I will perfect the art of the wrap. That’s a big maybe!
What is on your lunch plate?
