To me Valentine’s Day has always been a day to reflect on the things I love in life. I usually celebrate by making cards, creating treats and going out to a nice dinner with friends. It is more meaningful for me to celebrate friendships than to wallow over a significant other. Today, I am celebrating by having a personal day of wellness. I started the day by making an AMAZING smoothie! I’m calling it “Be My Valentine“.
I basically combined all of my indulgences into a blender and lovingly sipped it from a wine glass with a straw. The combination: 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1/4 cup plain Chobani, 1/2 cup frozen raspberries, 1/2 a banana, 1 scoop Amazing Grass, 1.5 TBS almond butter, 1TBS chocolate covered cacao 1 cup kale (had to add some veggieness!!) and topped with raspberries and Ginger/Hemp granola. On the side I had cinnamon raisin toast and an apple. I think I may have had all of my servings of fruit and veggies for the day in one meal…which is a good thing because I’m going out for pizza with my valentine aka best friend later.
The rest of the day I intend on getting my nails done, treating myself to lunch and who knows, maybe something new for my wardrobe. It’s a day to indulge, and that means respecting and honoring yourself, family and friends.
