I swear, I could write this entire blog about breakfast! I’m a breakfast fanatic, and always make sure that I have something interesting, satisfying and delicious to charge my day. How you choose to start your day really does have an impact on the rest of it. I woke up today with a slightly dry and scratchy throat (it is SO hot in my room!) and thought it would be a good day for a cool and soothing breakfast, my “go to” if you will: Greek Yogurt, Fruit and Granola. I eat this at least 3 days a week over the summer because it is so refreshing and filling. I typically alter a variety of fresh/frozen fruits and different types of granola. Today’s pick:
1 cup Chobani Plain non-fat Greek Yogurt, 1/4 cup Bear Naked Oat and Honey Peak Protein (has flax and dried blueberries in it YUM!), 1 small banana, handful of blueberries and one large spoonful of organic raspberry jam.
WHY I CHOOSE GREEK: I was converted to Greek yogurt a few years ago by my friend who “swears” by it. I tried it once and was hooked. I love the consistency: thick, rich and creamy. When you add things like frozen berries to it it becomes reminiscent of frozen yogurt! I also really like the slightly sour taste. It enhances the flavor of my mix-ins and I don’t have to buy pre-flavored, sugar rich yogurts. It is great for breakfast or a for a snack! Greek yogurt also has many advantages over plain yogurt: It is lower in sugar, chloesterol free all natural and has close to double the amount of protein. (the 6oz cup of plain Chobani has 18g of protein and 100 calories!). Greek or non-Greek, I always look for yogurts that have live active cultures, and no additives for added health and digestive benefits!
To Health and Happiness,
P.S I’ll be reviewing CHOBANI products (my favorite of the Greek yogurt on the market today!) and hosting a giveaway at the beginning of March!!! Look out for details!
